Committee for Election Choices
A group of Mequon residents who have served the community in various capacities and want the city to flourish for years to come share a concern that democracy is not well served and city governance suffers when local elections aren’t contested. They came together forming the Committee for Election Choices to interest citizens to run for the three Aldermanic positions to be filled at the April 1, 2014 election. In District 3 an incumbent is seeking re-election. Efforts to interest a qualified individual to enter the contest were unsuccessful. In District 5 the incumbent Alderman chose not to run for re-election and an individual filed to run. Committee efforts resulted in Patrick Rochford filing to run. In District 2 the incumbent Alderman chose not to run for re-election and an individual filed to run. Efforts to interest a candidate to run were successful but only after the deadline for filing candidacy papers to appear on the ballot had passed. Accordingly, a write-in campaign on behalf of Connie Pukaite is underway. Connie has agreed to serve if elected. Her qualifications appear elsewhere on this website.
